The Biography of Drake

Drake is a now well known actor/singer and hip hop artist from Toronto Canada. The Biography of Drake starts with his birth in Toronto, Canada in the month of October 1986. He was born Aubrey Drake Graham and the life of drake is unique because of the fact that he is the only black and Jewish Canadian rapper ever to become famous in America. Drakes father is an African American Catholic and his mother is of Caucasian and Jewish descent. According to Drake his family has a very musical background as his father Dennis Graham was a drummer for famous rock musician Jerry Lewis and his mother Sandi Graham also has a musical background. Drake’s parents were divorced when he was only 5 and he was raised in an upscale neighborhood named Forest Hill in Toronto by his mother. At the age of 13 Drake had a bar mitzvah and he observed the High Holy days and Chanukah with his mom growing up. Drake claims that he felt that he was always unique growing up and that he felt different from his predominately white classmates in Forest Hill Collegiate Institute because of his black Jewish background. He caught his big break in acting during his time at high school when a classmate’s father auditioned him and became his agent leading to his role in the hit show Degrassi: the next generation.

Drake played the part of Jimmy a handicapped student on the show Degrassi for 7 years and during his time acting on the show he made the transition to hip hop releasing his moderately selling single Replacement Girl featuring Trey Songz in 2007. The single featured on 106 and Park as the new joint of the day. After his character on Degrassi was eliminated Drake received a phone call from rap star Lil Wayne asking him to join his tour and the rest is history. Now music by Drake is heard and enjoyed all over the world and he has become a major figure in the hip hop community.
